Behind The Scenes {CT child photographer}

While I did not get the screaming shot that I did with Renzi, Leah was not happy to be in a pumpkin. In the first shot, you can see the candy in her mouth. I was bribing her with Smarties (perfect bribing candy because they do not melt like chocolate and do not leave telltale colors behind like other candy). She didn’t last very long and even tried to crawl away – pumpkin and all. Thanks to MC for the inspiration and set-up tip!

I am sure you all know that child that says “cheese!” and then smiles with scrunched up eyes. I own one of these children. And no, I did not teach her to say cheese. As a photographer, I prefer to capture the natural smiles, not the forced (squinty-eyed) ones. Today as Hannah tried on her new hat, I employed a few tricks that I learned from fellow photographers…and much to my delight, I caught a glimpse of the real Hannah.

And this shot is for Daddy because he is out of town and missing his girls.

I’m going to miss these two!

Fall has been busy and today it is even busier! My husband and I are going to Spain…sans kids! I am trying my hardest not to think about how much I am going to miss my girls. Instead, I am concentrating on how much fun it will be to explore Madrid again with the added bonus of doing so with my husband. I will have limited access to email until October 12th.

A couple of quick snapshots of my girls!

Flashback Friday

Welcome to Flashback Friday! I used to do this occasionally on my family blog and got out of practice. I thought it would be fun to start again on my photography blog to introduce you to my family. Maybe I should call it Family Flashback Friday?!?

Two years ago, we moved to Connecticut from Michigan. We moved here due to a job transfer for my husband. My daughter Hannah was 18 months old. We were enthralled by the beaches that first summer. I loved this shot of Hannah playing on the beach in Stonington Borough. It was her first time on a beach since she had been walking. In fact, I have this image on canvas in my house.

I would probably process it a bit differently now but this captured moment brings back memories. And I hope to capture a similar moment for Leah and have a pair of beach canvases in my house.
