Clickin’ Moms Blog Circle: Interesting Perspective

When I read the challenge for March – interesting perspective – I wasn’t really sure what direction I wanted to go with it. My first inclination was shooting one scene or story from many angles and levels but I have recently done a similar project so I knew I wanted a different approach. I remembered a lesson on perspective from middle school art class. I remember learning about vanishing points and converging lines. We drew city blocks and the furthest buildings were smallest showing perspective and giving the drawing dimensionality. That is when I decided to combine my love of lines with this perspective project. Lucky for me we were headed to NYC and Connecticut for spring break. All photos were taken on my phone. And the last one is just for fun. No one was in the mood for me to perfect my “forced” perspective shot. Next time I would make sure they were in a clearing and in the mood for my games.

Be sure to check out how Amy Ebersole interpreted the challenge.

Mini-sessions #6 {Kalamazoo Child Photographer}

My last minisession in Kalamazoo! Being the lucky girl that I am I also had time to catch up with another best friend – Nikki, my roommate from college. She made the drive from Chicago to see me and of course, I wanted to take some photos of Tommy. Unfortunately, Tommy misunderstood his mom when she said they were going to KalamaZOO – he was quite upset (as only 3 year olds can be) to realize that it was just a city and not actually a zoo. Furthermore, we told him we were going to a park to take photos – he was not happy that that park (K College’s beautiful campus) did not have a playground. Regardless of the misunderstandings, we still managed some cute photos! He is certainly going to be a heartbreaker one day!

Mini-sessions #5 {Kalamazoo Family Photographer}

Another minisession in Kalamazoo!  This time I met up with another of my best friends (since we were 5 years old) and her family at the Celery Flats in Portage, Michigan.  For a brief time before moving to CT, we lived in Ann Arbor and were able to see Sarah and Emily often.  Then we moved and it is hard to get together.  I haven’t had a chance to spend much time with Jenson at all!  But what a load of personality he has!  I think Sarah has a mini-me in Emily and Ryan has a mini-me in Jenson.  Occasionally when I look at the kids, they remind me so much of their parents. Hope you enjoy!

The beautiful family!

Mini-Sessions #4 {Kalamazoo Child Photographer}

Another almost rained out session in Bronson Park!  I am so happy the weather cooperated that day.  This is Nathan.  I have photographed him before so you might remember his beautiful blue eyes.  He is the adorable son of one of my best friends.  It makes me sad to see him so infrequently since we live so far away but I am always in awe at the new person he has become.  Jess, on the other hand, is exactly the same and it always feels like it hasn’t been almost a year since I have seen her…more like days.  Todd and Jess – it was great to spend time with you and play with Nathan (and boy, did he keep me on my toes!)
