Photo Safari Friday (downtown Kalamazoo rainbow edition}

Last Friday the girls and I went on a photo safari downtown.  Our goal was to capture the rainbow in photos.  They were armed with a very old Nikon Coolpix and I had the Canon Powershot.  Although my heart is still with the rainbow photo safari that we did in NYC, I think this one turned out great as well!  The safari provided me with time to walk around downtown and scope out locations for last week’s senior shoot.

Minus the meltdown at Water Street, we had a great time.

Mine on Monday {Up North edition}

We just got back from a long weekend “up north”. To us, that means Harbor Springs/Petoskey area. As kids, my family went up there every summer to stay at my uncle’s chalet. I had always pictured taking my kids up there someday too. Well Hannah went once at 6 months and then we moved to the east coast. Six years later we are living back in Michigan and it was time to head “up north”. We had a great time at three different beaches (Harbor Springs downtown, Petoskey State Park and Surfwood), two ice cream shops (Bob-In Again, Yummies), great restaurants (Mitchell Street Pub, The Noggin Room, Papa Lou’s Pizza, Little Bay Cafe and Polish Kitchen), mini golf (Pirate’s Cove) and more.

I wanted to be sure to get a photo of the girls in front of my uncle’s place to send to him. When I opened this one, I could not believe how old they both look. My babies are growing up!

The majority of my trip photos were taken on my iphone. I use various photo apps, including: Instagram, camera, camera +,VSCO camera, and PS express. I typically take most in the regular camera app that came with the phone…but since it doesn’t allow direct upload to facebook, I then take it into Instagram to publish to facebook…plus I love the square presentation. I occasionally use camera +, if I can’t get the desired outcome with the basic app. Camera + allows you to set exposure and focus at two different points in your image. I have just discovered VSCO because a lot of my instagram photog friends use it but I haven’t played much. I basically use Photoshop Express to post vertical photos to my facebook since I can’t do them thru instagram. Diptic frames is another fun app if you want to do a mini collage of photos.

14 months adorable {Kalamazoo baby photographer}

Last week I spent a fun morning with Zalina and her mom Shannon. We explored the yard, played with the kitty, threw the ball, and played Itsy Bitsy Spider. Could she be any cuter? No, I didn’t think so either. And check out those gorgeous lashes!
