What to Wear Wednesday {Kalamazoo Family Photographer}

The big question for family photos is always “what do we wear?”  I love coordinating styles that let each family member dress to their own personality.  In this edition, the aqua, green and pink ties all of the outfits together – so they look cohesive but everyone isn’t wearing the same exact thing.  Your girly girl can be in a dress whereas your tomboy might be more comfortable in pants.  It works for everyone.

Chasing Moments Blog Circle {May 2013}

I can’t believe it is already time for the Chasing Moments Blog Circle again!  This past weekend we were down in Illinois visiting Poppy and Nanny and spent one morning  fishing in the pond.  We caught bluegill and a few bass.  The girls do a great job with their Barbie fishing poles.  Even cousin Noah used a Barbie one and caught the tiniest fish…I love the look on Hannah’s face combined with Poppy’s laughter.  And apparently the cool thing to do when you are 7 is to fish while standing in the water.  Or she might have been doing it just to make Nanny nervous – it drops off quickly.

Lexi also loves the pond – but she doesn’t get to participate when we are out there to actually catch fish.  I think she has springs for legs.

Be sure to head over to Jennifer Mauren Photography’s blog to see her moments from this month.  http://www.jennifermauren.com/blog?p=3616

Kalamazoo Baby Photographer – An Afternoon with Blake

This week I got to spend a beautiful afternoon with Blake and his mom.  I love when moms get in the photos too.  Often moms are behind the camera capturing their little ones and there is little photographic evidence of their existence.  It’s time to change that!  Blake is 15 months old and was fun to chase around.  At this age, they just want to go and do their own thing.  Blake played with a toothbrush, keys, balls, a lens cap and some sticks.  The balls seemed to be his favorite (once we we removed his death grip from the toothbrush that seemed destined to be in their images.)  My favorite is the genuine laughter and joy in the last one.  Our session also ended with a bit of drama and adventure but that is Christa’s story to share.;)

Shooting Thru Glass – Clickin Moms blog circle challenge – May

This month’s blog circle challenge was shooting thru glass.  My first thought was windows.  I debated shooting my kids inside my house from the outside…then I debated the opposite – shooting my kids outside from inside the house.  Then came the shoot thru the wine glass idea which was quickly discarded…in the end, I decided to shoot thru an old camera – an Argus 75.    I hope you enjoy!

Check out how Linnea completed the challenge here.

Mattawan Senior Photographer – Bailey – Class of 2014 Senior Rep

As promised, part two of Bailey’s sneak peek is here. I love how a change in outfit can totally bring out a different side of a senior. Her first look was so soft and pretty and this one is strong and bold. With so many fun textures in downtown Kalamazoo, it was easy to find some places to shoot that matched the style of her second outfit. Usually I favor color for a lot of my images but I just LOVE some of these in black and white. Bailey, thank you for such a fun and inspiring session!
