Over the fourth of July, we went on vacation “up north”. I know that means something different to everyone – for us, that mean the Petoskey/Harbor Springs area. As a child, I went up there every year in the summer…and now I am taking my girls too. Our first day we did a small hike at Petoskey State Park.
On Day 2, we headed further “up north”. We headed over the bridge and into the UP (upper peninsula for you non-Michigan folk). It was Leah’s first time over the bridge. We drove up to Paradise, Michigan and visited the Upper Falls at Tahquamenon Falls State Park. It was a beautiful park and we plan to go back and see the lower falls at some point. The next evening we watched the sunset over the bay from Petoskey State Park. While waiting for the sun to go down, there was a lot of running down the dunes and looking for Petoskey stones. I am happy to say we found a few.
On the 4th, we headed into Harbor Springs to watch the parade. Good fun, good music and candy. What more could you want? That evening we watched the fireworks over the bay from the Harbor Springs side. While waiting for it to get dark, we watched people set off a bunch of lanterns – it was a bit like Rapunzel in Tangled.
Head on over to my friend Kelly’s blog to see what she captured this month. http://www.kellygorneyphotography.com/2013/07/chasing-moments-july/ And come back tomorrow to see the instagram version of our vacation!
