Mine on Monday {CT family photographer}

So this weekend I pulled out my camera to get a quick shot of Hannah for her school valentines. Hannah was fairly cooperative and Leah was sleeping. Once Leah woke up, she also wanted to participate but really only on her own terms…which is not having to look at the camera or do what I say. I decided to bust out the valentine suckers and attempt a few shots together. They are by no means perfect – but I love them (the photos AND the girls).

Our little ragamuffin straight from her nap. Finally some eye contact! Check out her poor lip. We aren’t entirely sure what she does at night but her skin is a disaster. The doctor said she probably sucks on it while she is sleeping. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be happy to hear them. I almost laughed out loud when the doctor suggested a band-aid at night. That wouldn’t even last two seconds!

Matthew would get really bad chapped lips, both well above the upper and lower lip areas. My ped in MD suggested using Blistex like I would for myself. I use the blue container…I think it’s Lip Medex. Works like a charm! And another good thing, it doesn’t matter if she sucks it off, it’s safe for her to ingest. She’s still a cutie though and so is Hannah!

I love the one of them looking at each other – very cute! As for the chapped lip, you could try aquaphor (made by eucerin). You’d have to check to make sure it was OK to suck off, but I’ve never seen anything work so well on chapped body parts.

I use my lanolin for “stuff” that pops up on the kids lips and hands. It was great for the phase when Monica was sucking her thumbs raw.

Thanks for the tips for the lips. We went to the dr this week for an ear infection and I asked again about her lip. She first suggested hyrdocortizone before bed. Then she decided since it has been that way for awhile to prescribe an anti-fungal solution for her lip. Two days later it already looks 100x better. By next week it should be all healed. :)
